Atlanta

Cheap beer, blues, and Clermont-grade glory

Atlanta's dives run from a legendary Ponce basement to blues juke joints and graffiti-caked Little Five hangs. No pretension, stiff pours, and the kind of regulars who've held their stool for decades.

Clermont Lounge

789 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30306
Mon-Sat 5pm-3am

Atlanta's oldest and most legendary dive, a gloriously grungy basement bar running since 1965. Cheap cold beer, a beloved veteran cast, and zero pretension make it a rite-of-passage institution.

Pip’s Tip Closed Sundays, 5pm to 3am otherwise. Atlanta's oldest dive, a basement room, and it is exactly what you have heard.

West Midtown

Northside Tavern

1058 Howell Mill Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30318
Daily 12pm-2:30am

A black-walled, graffiti-covered blues shrine with live music seven nights a week and a pool table in back. Cheap beer, stiff pours, and one of the last true juke joints in the city.

Pip’s Tip Live blues seven nights, daily till 2:30am. Black walls, graffiti, and the music is the point.

Little Five Points

Euclid Avenue Yacht Club

1136 Euclid Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307

Virginia-Highland

Moe's & Joe's Tavern

1033 N Highland Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30306

A cherished old-faithful tavern serving PBR pitchers, $6 burgers, and decades of memories. Wood booths, a beer-dispensing claw machine, and unchanging charm.

Poncey-Highland

The Righteous Room

1051 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30306
Daily 11:30am-2:30am

A tiny, dark, gloriously dive-y bar attached to the Plaza Theatre with cheap beer, a killer jukebox, and hot dogs and nachos. Cramped, unpretentious, and a longtime Ponce favorite.

Little Five Points

Elmyr

1091 Euclid Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307
Daily 11am-2am

Graffiti-slathered walls, cheap margaritas, and cheap-and-good Tex-Mex in the heart of Little Five Points. A punk-leaning, come-as-you-are hang.

Midtown

Eleventh Street Pub

1041 W Peachtree St NW, Atlanta, GA 30309
Daily 11am-2:30am

A no-frills Midtown basement pub with dollar bills stapled to the rafters and nothing to distract from drinking. Cheap pours and greasy smash burgers.

Midtown

The Independent

931 Monroe Dr NE, Atlanta, GA 30308
Daily 4pm-2:30am

Home to arguably the best pool hall in the city, with heavy-handed pours and a scruffy, unpretentious vibe. A go-to for cheap drinks and a game.

Cabbagetown

97 Estoria

727 Wylie St SE, Atlanta, GA 30316
Daily 12pm-2am

A beloved Cabbagetown corner bar with a huge string-lit gravel patio, cheap beer, and a laid-back, dog-friendly crowd. Grungy inside, easygoing outside.

Upper Westside

Mr. C's

1983 Howell Mill Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30318

A wood-paneled, unironic old-school dive with a pool table, cheap drinks, and deadpan signage. Longtime regulars and a total lack of pretense.
